Gotemba Premium Outlets is located near Mt. Fuji and some of Japan's most popular tourist spots, and attracts many tourists as a facility where they can enjoy brand shop shopping at a valuable price while viewing Mt. Fuji. The prayer space was set up in August 2013, since they were expecting an increase of Muslim customers visiting Japan, due to the Japanese government’s visa relaxation towards Southeast Asia in 2013.
